Book 9 is the conclusion to a well written family saga revolving around Lady Olivia and her many cousins and friends. At 56, she finally gets her happily ever after. I am just her age and was well satisfied with her strength and perseverance. She is the thread that ties together many lives and she made them the better for it. We would all be fortunate to be so beloved in the end. Not too many romance novels about women in their 50's.I encourage you to read the whole saga (novels and novellas) from beginning to end. Be careful, multiple books are listed as book 1 on Amazon. Check out the proper order. I must also say that I love the covers on these books especially the man on this one and the portrait of Lady Olivia on Lady Olivia 's Undoing. The man is definitely John Quiggins in my mind. Lady Olivia's portrait is lovely.
This series is about a group of men who are a little older than in some of the romances I have read. They have either served in the army or navy or had previous romances or family tragedies that put them off marriage. They are related as friends, brothers and cousins. I like how the stories fit together.
If you like sweet sometimes adventurous stories with no more than kissing these stories are for you. If you like stories about related characters, but with more spice, try The Stanton Brothers series by Vanessa Kelly.

I read this free on KU as part of "The Reluctant Grooms Volume 3" bundle. I can't believe I made it this far. I can't wait to be done with this series. Here we begin with Lady O continuing on after hearing that her lover, John Quiggins, died overseas in Madrid, while carrying out a mission for the crown. She's lost her right to the title Dowager Duchess of Caymore. We start with the run up to Stephen and Arianna's wedding. After that she decides to go down to John's posthumously awarded estate and live there as "Lady Seaford". There are loads of flashbacks to when she was with John and it got a bit much. I think that if you're reading this then you're invested in the series and will read on no matter what. As for me I'm just glad I'm done. The author will be relieved to know that I don't plan on reading anything more by her in the future.
For the most part I enjoyed this book although it was not my favorite of this series. I do feel the entire series (The Reluctant Grooms) was very good, and I would recommend this author to anyone seeking a sweet+ romance writer.
As the title suggests, the book starts out sad but has a satisfying ending. Anne Gallagher's books hold my interest—as I read until I finish them— and I will be following up on her other books.
The story was well written and the storyline well defined. The author drew the reader in and kept our interest throughout the story as well as allowing us to experience her characters many emotions. The story had intrigue, suspense, discoveries, danger, love, and finally a happily ever after.
